MEMBERSHIP
Eligibility: Must be a Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant Student. Other medical professionals may be considered on a case by case basis. Membership in The North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants (NCAPA) is not a requirement but is preferred. If you are a PA student you must provide proof of enrollment in an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program and anticipated graduation date.
Membership Categories:
Fellow: A PA who is a graduate of a PA program accredited by ARC-PA, or is NCCPA-certified, and is employed or licensed as a PA. This category can vote and hold elected leadership positions.
Associate: A nurse practitioner who is employed and licensed as a NP. This category can vote but is not eligible to hold elected leadership positions. Retired physician assistants are also eligible for this category.
Student Member: Membership is valid through the duration of enrollment in an ARC-PA accredited PA program. Student members are non-voting and cannot hold an elected office. Upon completion of his or her PA program, a membership grace period of 6 months is given to permit reapplication to AppAPA for Fellow status.
Dues and Assessments:
Fellow and Associate: Dues of $40 renewed annually on January 1 of each year. These dues may be prorated at a rate of $20 if the fellow or associate joins after June 30th of the year.
Student: Dues of $20 are one-time payment for the duration of enrollment in an ARC-PA accredited program regardless of date joined. Student Representative Dues are waived for the duration that the student holds the position.
There will be a 30-day grace period for payment of all dues (payment due by January 31 of each year). After that time membership may be terminated. A reminder of dues owed will be sent electronically. AppAPA will hold a bank or credit union account in it’s name to hold all dues/funds. This money will go toward sponsoring Category 1 or Category 2 CME events.
Termination of Membership:
Membership may be terminated by either party upon written notice, nonpayment of dues, or for flagrant violations of legal or moral standards.
Non-discrimination Membership:
Membership shall not be denied or abridged because of sex, color, creed, race, religion, disability, or ethnic origin.

You can pay your membership dues via check (preferred) or electronically, and will receive a membership letter to serve as a receipt of payment within 2 weeks via email.
